The ever first plant for defense
industries was opened in 1960, to produce ammunitions for light
weapons. However, the preparations for the creation of an inclusive
Military Industrial Corporation started in the early 1990s. It has
been officially established by a Transitional Decree in 1993, and then
ratified by the National Assembly in 1994.
The idea of the establishment
of the Military Industry Corporation, emerged in the early 1990s..The
plans for the implementation of this arduos task was started in the
year 1992. This industrial base was, then, called the Military
Industry Corporation to be a part of the Ministry of Defense and to be
directly supervised by the Commander-in- Chief, by the provisional
Decree of 1993. |

We, in the MIC, are
committed, in obedience to Allah, to make helpful and beneficial,
our capacities and potentialities, by providing our various
products, industrial services, projects, advanced and integrated
systems; in order to realize the security and wellbeing of our
nation and to satisfy our clients, being the true initiators of
modernization and development in the defense and civil sectors.

We look forward to bring forth a comprehensive industrial
and technological development all over the country. To lead
the process of industrialization in the region, by
manufacturing products and providing projects, in a way that
serves and fosters the national economy and the national
security.

Scope of Activities:
The MIC is considered as one the main pillars of the agricultural and
industrial development in the country. Thanks to the MIC’s considerable
and substantial contribution to those two sectors by providing them with
new important technologies and industries. The MIC is also considered as a
successful pattern of partnership between the public and the private
sectors. MIC is successfully assuming the role assigned to it. That it is
able to lay the foundation for an advanced military industry to meet the
country’s defense requirements. It is as well, able to indigenize the
modern technologies, thanks to its plans and policies, its openness
towards the other, plus its material capacities and its well-trained and
qualified staff.
The MIC has got modern hi-tech machinery and equipment for industrial
purposes. Thus, its products conform to the international civil and
military standards. It as has got also advanced, computer centers,
laboratories, training centers, quality control centers, research and
development centers and a decision support center. The MIC enjoys a
considerable asset of strong ties of cooperation with numerous
institutions, corporations and companies worldwide.
The MIC produces a vast array of products; such as heavy and
light
artillery, anti-tank and antiaircraft guns, light weaponry, such as
machine guns, rifles and pistols. In addition to the ammunitions for these
weapons, rocket launchers, rounds, day and night vision devices,
communications, electronic and optics equipment and appliances.
The civil products of the MIC are represented in the construction
materials, cables, automobiles, buses and trucks, stationeries,
accumulators, televisions, and electronic appliances.

The Activities of the MIC
are covered by the following sectors:-
1- Sector of Weapons (light, medium and heavy weapons).
2- Sector of Ammunitions (small, medium and bigger sizes).
3- Sector of Vehicles.
4- Sector of Heavy Machineries and Armoured Vehicles.
5- Sector of Metals.
6- Sector of Electronics and Communications Appliances & Devices.
7- Sector of Explosives and Initiators .
8- Sector of Aviation and Air Defense.
9- Sector of Artillery Rockets.
10- Marine Sector.
11- Sector of gears
The MIC is composed of the following industrial complexes;
